My Career Goal
Ashley from South Carolina
College Admission Essay Nursing - When I was ten and my sister was five we developed some great memories of my doctors office, because it seems like we both were always sick.
Our doctor’s name is Abe Moscow of Barnwell Pediatrics. My first inspiration for health care started one day in his waiting room. While waiting I noticed the pictures that were on the wall. There were pictures of children pretending to be nurses and doctors. I don’t know why, but when I saw those pictures I knew then, at age ten that I wanted to be a nurse.
Five years later I was a sophomore at Barnwell High School where I enrolled at the Barnwell County Career Center in Health Science I class. These classes gave me insight into the different opportunities to serve in the medical field. My junior year I decided to go further and completed Health Science II class. With this experience I tested and passed the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and obtained my CNA License.
So now at age seventeen, as I am approaching the end of my senior year of High School I have done all I can at this level of study to achieve my goal. I now look forward with great anticipation of entering my freshman year of college; where with application, dedication, and hard work I can achieve the goal that I have dreamed of for so long.
That goal is to attain a Bachelors degree in Nursing from a Christian College. I will use this degree, combined with my faith, to care for the whole body, both mind and soul. Maya Angelou once said “They may forget your name, but they will never forget how you made them feel”. At the end of the day my desire is not for my patients to remember my name; but for them to know that they were cared for and loved when they were hurting and needed it the most.
